Winter Break Tips: Safety & Security

December 7th, 2010 by Jennifer Frank

During the Winterim break, there is a much greater potential for burglaries and thefts to occur here at Plymouth State.  With the holiday break being widely publicized, many individuals are aware that students will be absent from their residence halls.  We would like to take this opportunity to remind you to be vigilant concerning the security of your residence, apartment and vehicle prior to your departure for the Holiday Season.

University Police and Plymouth Police strongly suggest that:

1.  ALL valuables be taken home with you rather then leaving them locked in your residence.

2.  All doors and windows be secured and double checked before exiting the property.  Be sure to do this even if you are not the last member of your residence to leave for the Winterim break as a precaution.

3.  When preparing to leave for the break, we also encourage you not to leave those valuables secured in your vehicle in the days preceding your departure as they present an inviting target for some individuals whose actions may be less than noble.

HAVE A SAFE AND HAPPY HOLIDAYS!
