Crime Log

The Higher Education Act  of 1998, renamed the “Jeanne Clery Disclosure of Campus Security Policy and Crime Statistics Act,” significantly expanded the obligations of American institutions of higher learning. The Clery Act requires colleges and universities to disclose in a public crime log “any crime that occurred on campus . . . or within the patrol jurisdiction of the campus police or the campus security department and is reported to the campus police or security department.” In compliance with the Clery Act, the Plymouth State University Police Department maintains a daily crime log that records by the date the incident was reported to us all crimes and other serious incidents that occur on campus, in a non-campus university owned or controlled building or property, and on public property that is within campus or immediately adjacent to and accessible from campus.

The Daily Crime Log – also known as the Student Right to Know Report – is available for public inspection during normal weekday business hours at the police station located at #2 High Street. The Daily Crime Log includes the nature, date, time, and general location of each crime reported to us, as well as the disposition of the complaint, if that is known at the time the log is created. The department posts specific incidents in the daily crime log by Monday of each week. We reserve the right to exclude crime report information from the log in certain circumstances.

Please Lock Your Residence When You Leave

April 27th, 2012 by Jennifer Frank

Recently, the town has received several reports of burglaries that have occurred in residences that have been left unlocked while the tenants are away.  Please remember to lock your room when you leave and to secure any and all valuables as best as you are able.
