Mission

The Special Investigations Victim Services Unit (SIVS) of the Plymouth State University Police Department exists to assist women who have been victims of violent crime.

The Special Investigations office employs a dual-trained police officer who specializes in victim advocacy and law enforcement, and is committed to assisting victims through the criminal justice process.

This mission is accomplished by providing thorough and timely investigations, referrals to community agencies and by imparting pertinent information and resources to victims. By assisting victims in this way, the connection between the victim, the justice system, and the community is strengthened and a thorough comprehensive service is attained.

With extensive outreach and extensive educational programming at its foundation, the Special Investigations and Victim Services office is committed to providing all members of both the University and surrounding town communities with a variety of programs, training and workshops so as to enable women to become educated concerning the dangers that exist in society and to facilitate the gaining of knowledge in order to reduce the possibility that she may become a victim herself.

All objectives of the Special Investigations and Victim Service office are executed with respect and dignity for the victim involved, and with regard for the missions of both Plymouth State University, the University Police Department, the State of New Hampshire and the towns of Plymouth and Holderness, NH.
