Budget Process Timeline

The New Hampshire Legislature is currently working on the state’s budget for 2012–2013. These are important dates and deadlines in the process:

April 18, 2011: University System of New Hampshire presidents presented to the Senate Finance Committee.

April 21, 2011: Senate Finance Committee held a public hearing on House Bills 1 & 2.  The Finance Committee will deliberate during the course of the month, then vote on its recommendation to the full Senate.

June 2, 2011 (on or before): The full Senate votes on the Senate Finance budget recommendation.

June 8, 2011 (on or about): Committee of Conference conferees are named and the conference process begins, concluding by noon on June 16, 2011.  (Committee of Conference conferees are House and Senate budget writers who deliberate to reconcile the various recommendations from the Governor, House, and Senate).

June 23, 2011 (on or before): The full House and Senate vote on Committee of Conference recommendations.

End of June: The budget is brought before the Governor for final action.
