Blair Hall Now…
Today Blair Hall is a co-ed residence hall housing 210 students. In the 1990’s, all the rooms in Blair Hall were renovated with new floors and furniture and the building received a new sprinkler/fire alarm system, and new lighting. During the summer of 2011, all of the bathrooms were gutted and rebuilt. Renovations continued in the summer of 2012, with the installation of a new heating system and an updating of the lobby/entrance area. The building has four floors without an elevator.
Located in the center of campus, Blair is convenient to most classroom buildings and houses kitchen and lounge areas on three floors, a large recreation room with a pool table, ping pong table, big screen TV, as well as a computer cluster.
Blair offers students two sound-proof music practice rooms which make it a popular housing choice for music/theatre/arts students.
When asked what some of the best things about living in Blair are, students responded with answers like this:
“The CA’s and the friendly/neighborly atmosphere.”
“It is close to everything”
“Respect for quiet time”
“A fun place to be!”
In the past …
In the late 1950’s Grafton and Belknap Cottages were torn down, and Blair Hall was built. The building was named after Henry William Blair. Mr. Blair was a congressman and senator from New Hampshire, who was instrumental in getting the Normal School located in Plymouth. Blair hall was built as a residence hall for men and offered a snack bar, recreation facilities, as well as a computer center.
Blair became a co-ed residence hall in 1982.
