Plymouth State University in most cases will notify parents or guardians of students who are claimed as dependent on parental income taxes in the following circumstances:
- If a student is found responsible for violating
- a university policy that may place them in jeopardy of losing their on-campus living space or status as a student or
- a university alcohol or drug policy.
- If a student’s health or safety may be at risk.
Parents of students, who are not considered dependent may be notified in situations where the student’s health or safety may be at risk.
Students are encouraged to discuss the situation with their parents/guardians prior to the university notification.
Students are responsible for notifying the Office of the Dean of Students if they are not considered a dependent.
