DEFINITION: For the purposes of this policy, “tobacco” is defined to include any lighted or unlighted cigarette, cigar, pipe, bidi, hookah, and all forms of smokeless tobacco and any nicotine delivery device that has not been approved by the FDA for cessation which includes electronic cigarettes. This policy is in keeping with the American College Health Association position statement on lighted tobacco products.
1. Smoking any form of tobacco product in any Residential facility or University Building is prohibited.
2. Smoking is not allowed within 20 feet of any Plymouth State University building or controlled premise, adjacent to air intake units, outside stairways, or entrance ramps.
3. Smoking may also be prohibited in areas reserved for events that do not fall within the above categories but for which the sponsor determines that the interests of non-smokers need to be protected. For example: graduation, university receptions and events, groundbreaking ceremonies, outdoor concerts.
Smoking any form of tobacco product in any Residential facility or University Building is prohibited.
