5.0 OLD BUSINESS/ANNOUNCEMENTS
5.01Biology Curriculum Change Reitsma
Biological Sciences wishes to change the Biological Sciences Education (7-12) Option under the BS in Biology degree program to become its own BS program entitled BS in Biological Science Education (7-12). The option at present has many courses required for certification that are not required for the BS in Biology (without option). The BS is the degree chosen by pre-professionals in our dept and we have recently approved changes to this program that will reduce it to 120 cr and increase free elective credits above 15 total. We can not make these changes while the option is still connected to this degree. The option presents challenges quite distinct from the BS without option in streamlining the curriculum. The best course of action is to decouple the option from the BS and make the option its own BS degree.
Move to approve the Biological Science Curriculum

5.02CTE By-Laws (See attachment) Cucina

5.03 Feedback on Required Education Courses Oliver
Would like to develop a survey tool administer at Seminar 4: Assessment of Student Teaching to pick-up feedback required education courses. It was decided that before an official survey was developed for the students, that if there were specific concerns about a certain course, the instructor and/or the chair of the department should be addressed.
6.0 MOTION TO ADJOURN Cucina
Before the meeting was adjourned, the council thanked Gary McCool for all his many dedicated years of service to the CTE.
Gary mentioned that if there were any departments who may possibly need any historically dated books from the library’s archives, they should contact Gary as they could easily be thrown out if there is no interest in them.
Mary Campbell thanked to OTC for a lovely teacher accreditation awards ceremony.
