Seminar 4

Program Assessment, Closure to Student Teaching, and Certification December/May

During Program Assessment, we will be using various methods to gather data that will be used to evaluate and make improvements in our teacher preparation programs, courses, instruction, field and clinical experiences. The process for applying for certification will be reviewed.

Closure to Student Teaching

Expressing Appreciation: You might want to recognize your cooperating teacher with an appropriate gesture of thanks on the last day of your placement or shortly after you depart. In addition to your verbal thank you, a personal, handwritten note of gratitude is always appreciated. Keep any gift giving to a small plant, flowers or a small item for the classroom.

Praxis II: Those seeking New Hampshire certification in Biology Education (7-12), Early Childhood (N-3), Elementary Education (K-8), English Education (5-12), Mathematics Education (5-8), Mathematics Education (7-12), Physical Science Education (7-12), or Social Science Education (5-12), will need to submit passing Praxis II scores to the New Hampshire Department of Education and to the Office of Teacher Certification.

Tell Us How We’re Doing: Plymouth State University will be surveying its teacher certification graduates frequently to determine how well your undergraduate teacher education has prepared you for the teaching profession. Please respond thoughtfully when you receive these surveys. We hope that your student teaching experience has been both professionally and personally satisfying. The office staff has enjoyed working with you and we hope you will feel free to call
or e-mail the office if you need assistance.

As an undergraduate, I spent four years studying meteorology with some of the finest faculty in the country and enjoyed it so much that I decided to stay for my Graduate degree. Plymouth State offered me a great opportunity to explore the field with internships at places like Mount Washington Observatory and the Christa McAuliffe Planetarium, all while providing a more personalized college experience.
