Application for Teacher Certification Candidacy
Application Guidelines and Requirements
- Teacher Certification Candidacy Application Page
- The Candidacy Application form lets us know you want to become a teacher. This form must be completed, signed, and submitted to the OTC. The application page activates your teacher candidacy file in the OTC.
- Passing Praxis 1 Scores
- Praxis I tests are an assessment of basic skills and designed to measure proficiency in the areas of reading, writing, and math. The Praxis I tests should be taken during your first year at PSU and must be passed by meeting the current scores required by the State of New Hampshire. Passing Praxis I scores are required for acceptance into Teacher Certification Candidacy.
- Faculty Evaluation ONE of Teacher Candidate
- Faculty Evaluation TWO of Teacher Candidate
- Faculty Evaluations must be submitted from two PSU faculty members with whom you have taken classes. One of these evaluations is required to be from a faculty member in your major department. Evaluations should be returned to the OTC.
- Required Cumulative Grade Point Average of 2.5
- A GPA of 2.5 is required for all majors to be accepted into teacher certification candidacy. This is the last requirement to be checked before Gate 1 is completed.
Completion of Gate 1 is a prerequisite to registering for certain courses in some departmental
programs.
