Dedicated faculty, staff, and members of the university administration made the Department of University Studies possible.

Patrick is the Dean of the Center for Student Success and has worked at Plymouth State since the fall of 2001. He has worked in both student and academic affairs at PSU and with all types of learners. He is active in the academic advising community, currently serving as the New Hampshire State Liaison for the National Association of Academic Advising. He has consulted for many other institutions on advising undeclared students and developmental advising. He lives in Campton, NH with his wife and two daughters and, when he has the chance, studies martial arts.
Jenny Tyniec, Career/Academic Counselor
jktyniec (at) plymouth (dot) edu
Jenny joined the University Studies team in September 2012. In her previous life, she worked in residential life at several colleges in the northeast. Growing up on Staten Island, she has slowly made her way north via Connecticut and Massachusetts before settling in New Hampshire. Being a self-proclaimed “city girl,” she is enjoying the bountiful nature opportunities that New Hampshire affords. Jenny is passionate about running, kayaking, hiking, camping, and anything Disney! She was a history major in college and a psychology and counseling major in graduate school. She is currently pursuing her doctorate in Higher Education Administration. Jenny enjoys working at PSU and thinks the students, staff, and faculty are friendly and engaging. When asked, Jenny said she would offer this advice to students, “Be engaged, be present, and participate fully in your college experience. Yes, that means go to class and do your homework, but it also means taking the time to really immerse yourself in PSU life!”
Lauren has been a part of the PSU community for the last couple of years; first as a doctoral student in PSU’s Higher Education program, and now as a member of the University Studies team! Lauren’s work experience has most recently included three years in the Registrar’s Office and, prior to that, five years as a mental health counselor. She currently resides in Rollinsford, NH with her husband and two children (4-year-old, Callan, and 2-year-old, Rynn), as well as a cat (Loki) and a dog (her adopted pit bull, Willy). Lauren recently completed a full marathon this year – a bucket list item that she proudly checked off the list (and will doubtfully do again!). When Lauren isn’t training for a race or chasing her children, she enjoys relaxing by the lake, eating out with friends, and spending time with family. Lauren is thrilled to be working with PSU students and is grateful to be a part of this community.
Barbara LaJeunesse, Administrative Assistant

Barbara, informally known as Babs, has been at PSU since 2006 as the Administrative Assistant for University Studies and the Undergraduate Advising Center. Babs brings a unique perspective to her advisees trying to decide on a major, having 38 years of “real world” experience working in manufacturing/distribution, transportation, real estate, and broadcasting in various capacities – office manager, account executive, supervisor, manager, and business owner. She and her husband moved to New Hampshire in 2003 to pursue a less hectic lifestyle and now live in the beautiful White Mountains with their Golden Retriever (Maddie) and cat (Dusty). Babs and her husband love to travel and enjoy hiking everywhere with their dog.
The offices for the Department of University Studies are located on the lower-level of Mary-Lyon Hall. Use the north or south entrance (not the front facing downtown) – then go down the stairs and follow the signs!
