Student volunteers to facilitate 1 to 2 hour workshops focused on group development for on-campus student groups (e.g., student organizations, residential life, athletic teams). You will work in teams with other experienced facilitators under the guidance of the Outdoor Center staff. This is an ideal opportunity for Adventure Learning or Education students or for any student wanting more experience leading and facilitating groups. The Student Outdoor Adventure Recreation (SOAR) trip program is looking for energetic, fun, hard working students to instruct outdoor activities for PSU students under the cooperative adventure leadership philosophy. Trips range from day to multiday/overnight(s) trips in activities such has, rock climbing, paddling, hiking/camping, surfing, and biking. Students who have prior outdoor leadership experience and/or WFA/WFR certifications are encouraged to apply. Student facilitators engage new incoming students in adventure-based large and small group activities to kick off New Student Orientation! Students who enjoy &/or have experience leading games are encouraged to apply. Students who apply by the application deadline will be eligible for FREE PSU housing for May/June dates.
Mandatory Dates: May 27-29, 2009 (9:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.) & May 31, June 7, 10, & 14, 2009 (7:30 a.m. - 2:00 p.m.)
Pay Range: $280-$330 dependent on experience

White Mountain Orientations are scheduled cooperative adventure trips connecting incoming first year students to human powered outdoor activities and the NH outdoor environment. The program is led and instructed by PSU students who promote a respect for the environment and a love for the outdoors. Trips can include rock climbing, surfing, canoeing, challenge course, hiking, etc… Students who have experience leading these outdoor activities are encouraged to apply.

Pay Range: $280 - $400 dependent on experience
