ACA OC-1 Clinic (open canoe solo boat)

This basic river canoeing course focuses on instructor development and technique refinement for maneuvers commonly done on the river (i.e. eddy turns, ferries & surfing). Great for clubs, camps, groups or individuals that wish to “play” on moving water, rivers up to Class I. Fee includes instruction and if needed boats and PFD’s. Participants should consider becoming a member of ACA prior to course dates.
Introduction to Sport Lead Climbing

Learn how to manage the risks while sport lead rock climbing. Participants should have proficient belay and climbing skills. Climbing equipment is provided.
Wilderness First Responder Re-certification / Wilderness First Aid
Dates: May 20 & 21, 2009
Time: 9 a.m. – 6 p.m.
Cost: $190 plus $5 registration fee (an optional CPR course is offered for an additional $35)

Provides the knowledge needed to handle medical emergencies requiring extended care in remote backcountry settings. Emphasis is in prevention, decision-making and treatment. Those who successfully complete the course and pass the WFA exam will receive a Wilderness First Aid certificate good for two years. This course is taught using a combination of lecture, scenarios and rescue simulations. Cost includes lodging for the first eight people who register. CPR is offered separately on the first night of the course. Call for more details.
