I can’t claim to have celebrated on a large scale, but in Spanish 4 we wrote point of view pieces, taking on the characters in a book we are reading. It was only a 10-min. quickwrite, but the writing was vibrant and the personalities of each character really came alive :)

Newfound Middle School in Bristol, NH

At the Newfound Middle School, we culminated a month long reading of Murray’s A Writer Teaches Writing by using the 4 – A’s protocol to share our thinking. It was amazing to hear from teachers across disciplines about new strategies they will be sharing with students. We also dispelled some myths about what students can do in terms of their own writing. Our gym teacher also shared writing he had done with students around what it would be like to be a specific piece of athletic equipment. Awesome!

Manchester Elementary Schools

All of my classes celebrated National Writing Day by writing all day!!!!!!! All six classes wrote and read about writing, and wrote about reading about writing! We workshopped and revised and wrote some more!!

McClelland Elementary School Rochester NH

We just celebrated the National Day of Writing at McClelland.  I kicked it off with a morning meeting announcement.  Our theme was a favorite food and I read excerpts from children’s book and poems for inspiration.  Then teachers took it from there.  It was great!! Again thanks for the inspiration!!

Middle and High School Students– Publish your writing in our annual Middle/High School Voices Anthology

This year, Plymouth Writing Project has become an affiliate of the Scholastic Writing Awards through the Alliance for Young Artists and Writers.  Students will have the opportunity to compete for national recognition and publication in The Best Teen Writing of 2011. Deadline for submissions:  January 8th, 2011.
