Transitions – helping students cope with the stress of college life

Plymouth State University’s TIGER (Theatre Integrating Guidance, Education and Responsibility) presents Transitions, an educational production based on the writings of Plymouth State University students about sensitive issues that cause students stress. The production uses theatre, music and dance to illustrate ways in which college age students can cope with the stressors of college life and make positive choices for themselves and others. The production is funded under a three-year Garrett Lee Smith Campus Suicide Prevention Grant by the U.S. Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration.

The performances and discussions will be held from 7-8:30 p.m., April 10, 11, 12 and April 14 at 4 p.m. in Hyde Hall Room 120. The performances are acceptable for high school and college-age students and adults. There is no charge for admission.

TIGER Auditions Begin Tomorrow

An exciting opportunity for first and second year students! TIGER is holding auditions Feb. 12 and 13 for a new play they are creating in conjunction with the Suicide Prevention grant received with NAMINH and PSU. Auditions will be held in Silver Center, Room 122 from 8-10 p.m. on Feb 12 and 6-9 p.m. on Feb 13. Those interested need to contact Brenda Gleich at x52803 or bgleich@mail.plymouth.edu to schedule an audition time. This is a paid opportunity for ALL first and second year students with an interest in acting, singing and dancing. We will be casting five students. December 20th TIGER completed a 3 day tour of Lunenburg, MA sponsored in part by the Chris Maki Foundation. The visit included performances in all three Lunenburg public schools, student workshops, and a parent workshop.

Portsmouth School visits

During a two week period in November TIGER visited the Portsmouth, NH area schools delivering its message to students, teachers, and parents. Performances were held at the elementary and middle schools and both parent and teacher workshops were held throughout the city.

We are proud to announce a partnership with the Chris Maki Memorial Foundation (CMMF): www.chrismaki.org

The CMMF will be providing scholarships to schools in the Lunenburg, MA area. We are super excited as this is a part of Massachusetts that we have not yet toured. The program kicks off on December 19th and 20th when we will be performing shows at the Lunenburg Primary and Middle schools along with student and parent workshops.

Meet the cast and ask them questions

TIGER Takes On Bullying! is a lively, music-filled 30-minute special that helps elementary school kids learn how to deal with bullying in school, online and socially. It’s a co-production of NHPTV and Plymouth State University’s TIGER (Theater Integrating Guidance, Education, and Responsibility) program.

By using children’s own words, TIGER Takes On Bullying! depicts their real experiences of bullying and intolerance, and shows how to move to more positive social interactions at school and in the community.
The program aims to help students resolve bullying behaviors, and also to guide those who witness bullying behavior and don’t know what to do.

Scenes for the show were filmed at Plymouth Elementary School using 25 children along with the TIGER troupe of actors, as well as at the NHPTV Broadcast Center in Durham
