Test accommodations are provided for students with documented disabilities. The documentation must be on file with the PASS office and have been evaluated by an Advisor for Students with Disabilities. It is the student's responsibility to meet with an advisor and to present an Accommodation & Academic Modification letter to their professor, if they wish to access test accommodations.
A request to take an exam in the PASS office should be made one week before, but no later than 72 hours before the date of the exam. This 72 hour notice does not include the day of the test, holidays, or weekends and is the absolute latest a test can be requested to be taken in PASS. A student will not be able to take the exam in PASS if they haven't requested the accommodation within the required time frame. Finals must be scheduled by the Wednesday before the start of finals. The 72 hour notice does not apply to final exams.
If a student requests to take an exam in the PASS office, they must bring an Alternative Testing Request form to their instructor. There is space on the form for any special test instructions (open notes, calculator, note/formula card, open book, etc). The student will not be allowed to take anything other than exam and pen/pencil into the testing room unless specified by the instructor. The instructor should indicate exam delivery and return instructions by circling the preferred method on the form. There is a second copy of the form for the instructor to keep.
Tests delivered to PASS should be only for those students who have scheduled an exam with PASS and have provided their instructor with an Alternative Testing Request form. The PASS office is not a testing center; students should not be sent here to finish exams or to be proctored.
Exams may be emailed to pass.testing@plymouth.edu. We discourage the use of campus mail for the transport of exams, as they may not arrive on time.
The standard for extended time for a testing accommodation is double time. Occasionally, the time of a test is adjusted because of the student's schedule to allow for extended time. This will be noted on the Alternative Testing form. Exams for evening classes are started in the afternoon to give the student extended time. The PASS Office is open until 9pm, Monday - Thursday with professional staff working until 4:30pm every day. Exams will be scheduled such that they will be completed before 4:30pm.
