Paul E. Arold Field
The field directly in front of the PE Center is Paul E. Arold Field, the home of Plymouth State field hockey in the fall and women's lacrosse in the spring. Arold Field features permanent bleachers, an electronic scoreboard and a public address system. The enclosed field is large enough to have an adjacent practice area. In addition to the PSU teams, Arold Field is the home of two of the NHIAA Field Hockey State Championships.

The field is named after Paul E. Arold, '63, who coached football and wrestling at Plymouth State, and made many vital contributions to the campus community during his tenure as student, alumnus and staff member. Arold is credited with conceiving the idea for the Robert Frost Award, currently one of PSU's most celebrated traditions. He received PSU's Distinguished Alumni Service Award posthumously in 1972. In recognition of his accomplishments, the USNH Board of Trustees authorized that the playing area in front of the PSU PE Center be named the Paul E. Arold Athletic Field.
