Welcome to Plymouth State University, a vibrant regional comprehensive University that combines a heritage of teaching excellence with innovation in research and in community engagement.
At Plymouth State University, you will find a wide array of fine undergraduate and graduate programs and a faculty and staff committed to student success. With nearly 50 undergraduate majors and 70 minors in programs that include business, education, the arts, the humanities, and the natural and social sciences, PSU appeals to a large range of interests.
Our faculty members are well-known in their fields and regularly honored. In recent weeks, Jonathan Santore, chair of the Department of Music, Theatre, and Dance and a composer whose works have been performed and broadcast internationally, was named 2006 Composer of the Year by the New Hampshire Music Teachers Association. Dennise Maslakowski, associate vice president for the College of Graduate Studies, also received the New Hampshire Excellence in Education Award (the EDie) for her creation of exciting advanced degree programs and community partnerships. At PSU, students work side-by-side with such faculty mentors, who guide undergraduate and graduate student research.
And our reach is both regional and global. Brian Eisenhauer, associate director of the Center for the Environment and assistant professor of sociology, is leading an important outreach project across New England to protect surface and groundwater quality. PSU now is conducting its third Pakistani Teachers Institute, led by Blake Hazzard Allen and funded by the U.S. State Department, to offer seminars in activity-based learning and student-centered teaching for educational leaders from across Pakistan, a wonderful cultural exchange.
These are only samples of the extraordinary work being done at Plymouth State University in every field. As you browse our Web pages, please take time to read the news stories about our student, faculty, staff, and alumni accomplishments.
Located in a beautiful New England setting at the gateway to the Lakes Region and the White Mountains, an outstanding natural laboratory for learning, Plymouth State University has been recognized as one of the “Best in the Northeast” by The Princeton Review – for good reason.
