Joan Cook '69
Joan Cook is Executive Director of the Maine Pooled Disability Trust. She received her J.D. from the University of Maine School of Law in 1978. She practiced law in Biddeford until 1995, then joined Sweetser Children’s Services in Saco, Maine, as their planned giving coordinator. She later became Vice President and Wealth Advisor for Charter Trust Company. Cook has served as director or officer on the boards of the Maine Estate Planning Council, Brick Store Museum, the Maine Volunteer Lawyers for the Arts, Southern Maine Medical Center, Sweetser Children’s Services and York County Technical College Foundation. She also contributes many volunteer hours to Plymouth State, serving as chair of the Heritage Society and providing free consultation on planned giving.
Cook lives in Kennebunk with her husband, Stephen Canders.
