American Chemical Society Scholars Program

The scholarships are awarded on the basis of merit and financial need to minority high school seniors planning a science preparatory program of study, and minority college students who are currently freshmen, sophomores, or juniors who are committed to the study of chemistry, biochemistry, chemical engineering or other chemically related fields such as environmental science, materials science or toxicology and are interested in pursuing careers in one of these fields.

Americorps Education Award

After successfully completing a term of service, AmeriCorps members who are enrolled in the National Service Trust are eligible to receive an AmeriCorps Education Award. You can use your AmeriCorps Education Award to pay education costs at qualified institutions of higher education, for educational training, or to repay qualified student loans. The award is $4,725 for a year of full-time service, and is prorated for part-time.

Major General James Ursano Scholarship Fund

The MG James Ursano Scholarship Fund administered by the Army Emergency Relief (AER) was established in 1976 as a secondary mission to help Army families with the costs of post-secondary undergraduate level education, vocational training, and preparation for acceptance by military service academies for their independent children.

Eligibility: Dependent child, stepchild or legally adopted child of an Army soldier, registered in the Defense Eligibility Enrollment Reporting System (DEERS), unmarried for the entire academic year, under the age of 22 on May 1, 2006 based on the 2006-2007 academic year.

VETERANS RETURNING FROM IRAQ AND AFGHANISTAN

The Fund for Veterans' Education will provide scholarships to help meet the cost associated with higher education for veterans from all branches of the United States Armed Forces who served in Afghanistan or Iraq since September 11, 2001 and who are now enrolled in college or vocational-technical school. Scholarship recipients are selected primarily on the basis of financial need. In addition, length of military service (number of months and number of tours served) will be considered.

Full-time and part-time students are eligible.  The awards, which are renewable, are intended to cover financial need not met with need based grants and military education benefits. The program is managed by Scholarship Management Services, a division of Scholarship America.
