
Symphonic band is open to all PSU students by audition. Students in Symphonic Band develop ensemble performance techniques, individual performance skills and give public performances, both on and off campus.
Recent guest composers and conductors have included Timothy Mahr, Jack Stamp, David Holsinger, Mark Camphouse, Robert Sheldon, Jim Curnow, Robert W. Smith, David Shaffer, Barry Kopetz, Richard Saucedo, Jim Swearingen, Douglas Akey, Robert Foster, Michael Sweeney, Elena Roussanova Lucas, Stephen Bulla, Andrew Boysen, Jr., Elliot Del Borgo, Thomas Duffy, Brian Balmages, and Samuel R. Hazo.
The Symphonic Band is featured annually at the All New England Band Festival, which is hosted by Plymouth State University. A recent Symphonic Band tour of Germany and Austria included performances in Munich, Salzburg and Vienna.
One credit per semester is offered, and the course may be repeated for credit.
