Matt Savage

When jazz icon Dave Brubeck first heard Matt play, he pronounced him "amazing".  Matt was 8 years old.  He has since jammed with Chick Corea and McCoy Tyner, played at Birdland and the Blue Note, appeared on Conan O'Brien and Dave Letterman and at Jazz at Lincoln Center.  He recently recorded his eighth album and earned numerous award for composition and playing before turning sixteen this summer.  Matt is one of only 100 or so prodigious savants in the world, referring to those whose skills would be considered spectacular even if they were possessed by someone not faced with a disability (in Matt's case, autism).  "What I love about jazz," says Matt "is that you can break all the rules and be free."
