Faculty Accomplishments

Dr. Brian Healy studied brain hemispheric lateralization in the expression of emotion, and has just published at article on the relationship between personality, anxiety and attention.

Dr. Paul Fedorchak chairperson, has a publication record in the development of conditioned eating preferences in rats, and is active debunking quack phenomena such as ESP and divining.

Dr. David Zehr is an expert in cognitive processes, is very active introducing evolutionary psychology into the curriculum, and is well published in the journal Teaching of Psychology.

Dr. Juanita Field is currently active in applied social psychology, especially psychology and the laws. Topics include jury selection, the accuracy of eyewitness testimony and psychological factors involved in sentence length. She is also published a textbook on Industrial/ Organization psychology.

Dr. Jim McGarry has an eclectic background in personality, cultural and personal mythology, and recently has developed a variety of educational programs for students and teachers

Dr. John Kulig has studied animal learning and infant development, and recently published an article on the false consensus effect. He is also active studying the use (and abuses) of statistics in psychology.

Dr. Wendy Palmquist is trained as a developmental psychologist with special emphasis on adolescence, and also the psychology of women. She has applied her expertise into the development of educational programs for the college, most notably PSU’s first year experience.

Dr. Douglas Fife has a diverse background that began with the physiology of the brain. Recently, he has developed expertise in the efficacy of various educational practices, perception, and the role of multimedia in higher education.

Dr. David Mcdougal is trained as a clinical psychologist and the study of brain injury. He is an expert in behavioral approaches to psychotherapy, and combines his academic interests with private practice.

Dr. Joel Funk was trained in developmental psychology, with eclectic interests in post-formal adult development, the spiritual aspects of music, and near-death experiences. He also composes classical music.
