History of Voices

Voices began as Voices from the Center, created in 1995 as a place where writers and artists could deal with taboo topics, and a safe place to tell their stories. In 2000, the publication was retitled High School Voices, and dedicated to publishing the writing of regional high school students. In 2002, it was adopted by the Plymouth Writing Project. Between 2004 and 2006, High School Voices published in an electronic format. Beginning in 2006, the expanded Middle/High School Voices is dedicated to the publication of middle and high school writers both in a print anthology and in an online version. Each year, a call for submissions goes out to New Hampshire middle and high school writers via the PWP's network of teachers. Submissions are collected electronically, reviewed and discussed by an editorial board, and the best are selected and included in the anthology.
