PSU Housing Expectations

IMPORTANT PSU Housing Expectations / Policies

The following email was sent to all PSU students on November 4, 2008:

We hope you are having a successful semester. This email is being sent to remind you
about University policies as related to housing expectations.

As stated in the Student Handbook: “First-year and second-year matriculated
undergraduate students are required to live in University residence halls or apartments if
space is available unless released. Approval in writing from the Office of Residential
Life is required for all releases.”

Do NOT sign any off-campus housing contract or lease unless you are explicitly released
from your campus housing obligation (in writing) from the Office of Residential Life.
Please note the following:

** There are currently no releases for spring semester 2009. Students currently on
campus are in leases that are binding for the entire academic year (fall and spring
semesters).

** Regarding the 2009-2010 academic year- At this time students who will be younger
than 20 years old on September 1, 2009 and have less than 30 credits by the end of
Winterim 2009 will not be released from their on-campus housing obligation for that
academic year.

More information will be distributed regarding these guideline/expectations at the start of
spring semester. Students should realize it is extremely early to be considering housing
options for next fall and should wait until they return in the spring to start formulating
their plans.

Sincerely,

Department of Residential Life and Dining Services
