Today Blair Hall is a co-ed residence hall housing 211 students. The building has four floors and no elevator. In the 1990’s, all the rooms in Blair Hall were renovated with new floors and furniture. Renovations included new sprinkler/fire alarm system, and new lights.
Located in the center of campus, Blair is conveniently located near most classroom buildings and houses kitchen and lounge areas on three floors, a large recreation room with a pool table, ping pong table, big screen TV, as well as a computer cluster.
Blair is a special interest building for Music/Theatre/Arts, and offers students two state of the art sound-proof music practice rooms. Coming soon: a renovated fitness room.
When asked what some of the best things about living in Blair are, students responded with answers like this:
“The CA's and the friendly/neighborly atmosphere.”
“Easy access to capus”
“Respect for quiet time”
"The lounges."
"It's comforable."
"A fun place to be!"
In the late 1950’s Grafton and Belknap Cottages were torn down, and Blair Hall was built. The building was named after Henry William Blair. Mr. Blair was a congressman and senator from New Hampshire, who was instrumental in getting the Normal School located in Plymouth. Blair hall was built as a residence hall for men and housed a snack bar, recreation facilities, as well as a computer center.
Blair became a co-ed residence hall in 1982.
