Partnerships
Alton Museum Project
The Center is working with the Alton Historical Society (AHS) to help preserve an historic building and create a museum devoted to understanding transportation, land use and the history of economic and cultural landscapes in the Lakes Region of New Hampshire.
Integrating Communities through Environmental Planning in the North Country
This joint project with the Center for the Environment will develop and deliver applied training in environmental planning to land use boards in the North Country. This project will meet an identified need for training in this field, enhance the North Country Council's (NCC) Community Outreach Program, and help empower local boards to make better land use decisions. A two-part workshop will be developed and delivered to board members and will focus on applied techniques and local environmental topics.
Regional Natural Resource-Based Economic Conference and Center
In partnership with the Center for the Environment at PSU, a conference and proposed future institute will enhance the viability of the local natural-resource based economy, including forestry, agriculture, alternative energy and conservation, and transportation. The Center for Rural Partnerships is playing a leadership role with the New Hampshire Department of Agriculture in coordinating this effort.
Plymouth Riverfront Project
This project is a community effort to revitalize the Plymouth river waterfront. The Center for the Environment has received a technical assistance grant from the National Park Service's Rivers, Trails and Conservation Assistance Program to assist the community in planning the next steps for the waterfront project. The project will produce a community supported waterfront master plan with priorities for action and funding. The Center for Rural Partnership is supporting the Center for the Environment's leadership on this project.
