Description of Career Peer Advisors:
Career Peer Advisors are students selected to act as representatives for Career Services on campus to help fellow students by making career resources and information easily accessible.
Responsibilities of Career Peer Advisors (CPA’s) include:
CPAs are extension of Career Services. They receive extensive training in resume review, interview skills, gain knowledge of all Career Services resources and be expected to share this knowledge with fellow students. CPAs are expected to commit to 12 hours of training throughout the spring semester and for a minimum of 3 hours a week during the following academic year. They attend monthly meetings and be responsible for providing Peer Advising Hours in convenient locations on Campus. CPAs also support Career Services by marketing for and participating in Career Services events and workshops.

- Gain access to individual monthly mentoring services with a Career Services Professional to work on your career goals
- Have the opportunity to be paired with an alum for additional mentoring services
- Be part of a caring, effective team developing a program to support PSU students
- Satisfactory academic standing with a minimum GPA of 2.7 at time of application and throughout rotation
- Sophomore or Junior standing
- Ability to attend 12 hours of training spread over several evenings during the preceding Spring term and also the day before classes begin in the Fall
- Friendly and motivated attitude
- A desire to assist other students in the area of career services and development
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Creativity, a strong work ethic, and consistent productivity with minimum supervision
