Social scientists explore human experience through the study of history, political science, sociology, anthropology and geography. Plymouth State University's Social Science program allows students to investigate each of these disciplines while pursuing specific areas of interest.
Students who pursue the Contract Option will work with an academic advisor to create a program designed around specific interests and career goals. This research and writing-intensive program allows students to study each of the social sciences and prepare for a future career in business, academics, government or non-profit work.
The Social Science department also offers a social studies teacher certification program which prepares students to teach grades 5 through 12 through the study of a wide variety of subjects and disciplines. This program is certified at both the state and national level by the New Hampshire Department of Education and the National Council for the Accreditation of Teacher Education (NCATE).
