Director's Welcome

Cynthia D. MonizAs Director of the baccalaureate social work (B.S.W.) program and chair of the Social Work Department, it is my pleasure to welcome you to our department’s web site. If you are interested in courses or a degree in social work you’ve come to the right place!

Plymouth State University has offered the Bachelor of Science in Social Work degree since 1983 and has been accredited by the Council on Social Work Education since 1995. We have an excellent, committed faculty, an engaged group of students in the major and a unique set of options in the social work curriculum that let students focus their studies on child and family services, aging services, health services, mental health services or a Spanish language option.

The program has a Child Welfare Partnership with the New Hampshire Division of Child and Family Services, which provides traineeships for our students. We also participate in the national Gerorich Project on social work education and older adults funded by the Hartford Foundation and administered by the Council on Social Work Education.

We invite you to look through our Web site to find out more about us and to join us in advancing the social work profession through social work education. Please feel free to contact our administrative assistant, Christine Cote Gagne, our faculty or me for additional information or to discuss the program. We also invite our B.S.W. alumni to use this site to keep in touch with us directly, or to contact the Alumni Office. Send us news that you think might be of interest and that will help us to stay connected with the growing number of people who have graduated from PSU’s B.S.W. program!
