University: Plymouth State University
University Community: Comprised of faculty, staff, students, administrators, and any other persons employed
directly or through a contract service.
University Official: Person employed by the University
to perform assigned administrative or professional duties.
Includes but not limited to faculty, staff, and administrators.
Educational Institution: any public or private school, college or university, or other secondary or post secondary
educational establishment.
Hearing/Judicial Officer: Individual (administrators or graduate student) whose job responsibilities include
adjudicating judicial cases.
Hearing/Judicial Panel/Board: Group of Plymouth State University
students, faculty, and/or staff who hear
judicial cases, determine if charged student is responsible, and if so determine sanction/s.

Administrative Judicial Board: A group consisting of only faculty and staff of the
university.

Student Judicial Board: A group consisting of only students and their advisor.

Mixed Judicial Board: A group consisting of faculty/staff, and students.
NOTE: The terms 'judicial' and 'hearing' may be used interchangeably and the terms 'panel' and 'board' may be used interchangeably.
Incoming Student: Person who has received an
offer of admissions to PSU but who's not yet begun his/her first term.
Major Policy Violation: A violation, that if found responsible, may result in eviction from residential life, suspension or expulsion from the
University.
Minor Policy Violation: A violation, that if found responsible, may result in any sanction/s other than eviction from residential life, suspension or expulsion from the
University.
Organization: Any fraternity, sorority, association, corporation, order, society, corps, athletic group, cooperative, club, service, social or similar group, whose members are or include students, operating at or in conjunction with an educational institution.
Policy: A written regulation of the University, including individual departments, that may be found in, but not limited to, the Academic Catalog, Student Handbook, Residential Life Lease, or any other written material provided by a department or office of the
University.
Sanction: A requirement, status, or action imposed on a student as a result of being found responsible for a policy violation.
Student: Person who is enrolled in any program
through PSU (part time or full time; active status or non-active status;
matriculated or non-matriculated). For someone who will be

Student Organization: A group of students recognized or registered as affiliated with the
University as a result of complying with formal requirements established by the Student Activities Office.
