PSU Student Handbook: SAGE: Sexuality, Antiviolence and Gender Equity


SAGE (Sexuality, Antiviolence and Gender Equity) is an advocacy and resource center committed to building a more egalitarian environment for all PSU community members. The Center specializes in counseling, support and special issue programming. Staff at the center recognizes the challenges that men and women encounter as they redefine their roles in a changing society and help community members learn about and plan for the adjustment needed as a result of these changes.

Provides the following services (not an all-inclusive list):

  • Offers workshops and curricula that address a full spectrum of gender issues- including sexual assault and harassment prevention, sexuality education and homophobia. 

  • Provides services to survivors of sexual assault. The staff at the Center has experience in counseling and advocating for victims, regardless of gender or sexual orientation.

  • Provides workshops and leadership opportunities focused on women's empowerment.

  • Co-sponsors the Powerful Outstanding Women and Stop the Violence Conferences.

  • Offers ongoing support groups, workshops and discussion groups for the PSU community. 

  • Maintains an extensive resource library of pamphlets, books, videos and magazines.

  • Offers a support group for lesbians and bisexual women.

  • Coordinates educational programming that addresses the problems of sexual assault, sexual harassment and dating violence.

  • Provides opportunities to examine how men and women are socialized differently and how this affects relationships with one another.

  • Provides programs for members of athletic teams, sororities and fraternities designed to meet their needs and provide them the opportunity to become campus leaders in the effort to end sexual violence and violence against women.
