Sustainable Sustenance

Go Local

Look for goods that are locally grown and produced. Visit these local restaurants/shops/markets that sell local and organic products: Junkyard Dawgs, Peppercorn, Local Foods Plymouth, D Acres, and our very own Prospect Dining Hall!

Choose less plastic

Consume food products that use the least amount of packaging. Plastic wrappers, boxes, and wraps/foils all become waste. Choose reusable containers such as lunch boxes, coffee mugs, and water bottles at On the Go. Or bring your own container from to bring home leftovers. This is more sustainable and you may also receive discounts.

On campus dining

Taste the vegetarian options available. Vegetables are lower on the food chain and require less energy to produce. Sodexo has put great effort toward sustainability; check them out at plymouth.edu/dining/sustainability.htm

Compost

If possible, compost food items. There are places on North River Street as well as at the Town of Plymouth Recycling Center. You can also make your own mini compost tumblers for your room.
