Installation Information
Once a call is placed to Telecommunications and a work order is created the actual installation process begins. This process consists of three phases.
Phase I: Site Survey & Develop Job Plan
Phase II: Begin Install
Install necessary cable supports and make any penetrations needed
Pull all cables to local DeMarc closet
Route cable to specific jack locations
Label all cables according to Plymouth State Standard (each cable on campus has a unique label)
"Terminate" cable on both ends and install faceplate (basic faceplate consists of one voice jack and two data jacks)
If penetrations through walls were made insert firestopping to meet fire codes
Test all cables to make sure they meet data transmission standards
Activate connections that are needed
Phase III: Update Database Information
All cables and active connections are recorded and tracked
Jack locations marked on building floor plans
For active Voice connections the following steps are taken
User name and extension recorded
Billing information set up
Verify extension with corresponding room number for 911 emergency purposes
Voice Mail account created
Telephone programming (for digital sets)
Issue Personal Billing Number (PBN) if needed
