Upper Division or
Academic Minor
Requirement

All students must either declare an Academic Minor or complete
nine credits of upper level courses outside of their major discipline.

A course used for this requirement cannot be used to fulfill a perspective as well, and vice-versa. The same is true for the Integrative component.

Nine credits outside the major discipline.
This is the simplest method of fulfilling this requirement. It simply means that nine total credits of 300 or 400 level course work must be taken that are not from the same program as a student's major. If a student is an English major, for example, they could fulfill this requirement by taking any 300 or 400 level course that are not offered by the English program (any courses that do not start with "EN").
Total Credits: 9
- OR-

  Academic Minor.
To fulfill the requirement in this way a student must:
1. Choose an Academic Minor to fulfill.
2. Fulfill Six Credits of 300 or 400 level courses outside of their major (this usually happens automatically within a minor).   The Music Minor is exempt from these six credits.

An academic minor consists of at least 15 credit hours.
Total Credits: 15-32
(depending on the Minor)
