How To Apply (For New, Incoming Students)
There are major possibilities in your future. Getting there can be time consuming and expensive. If you're committed to college but not ready to choose a major yet, then the College of University Studies is for you. Prepare, then declare. Determine your goals, and then develop a plan to succeed.
Will you begin your first year of college at Plymouth State this fall? Are you planning to be a full-time student, living on campus? If so, then the College of University Studies may be for you.
All incoming first year full-time students without declared majors are sent this application form. Only those who sign up in time become members. Some benefits of the program come from living in a central location, and space is limited. Make the commitment to this program means you agree to :
- Start advising cycle early -- agree to talk with your advisor prior to your arrival for summer orientation.
- Complete self-assessments -- up to three questionnaires that may require 30-45 minutes each to complete.
- Stay in touch with your advisor or the Dean of the Academic Experience -- the program offers you more advising, and this means more meetings with an academic advisor. You'll also receive email, mail, or phone calls from us. It's a commitment of only a few hours per semester, and well worth it.
Step 1: You will receive a letter from the Dean of the Academic Experience. Review it carefully, complete and sign the application form, and return it in the envelope provided.
Step 2: A College of University Studies advisor will contact you regarding registration. If you are eager to get started or have questions, contact Dean Robert E. Fitzpatrick.
Step 3: We'll plan to meet with you during your orientation visit. Let us know when you're coming!
Once you've registered and been through orientation, the pre-semester portion of your College of University Studies program is complete. The program will continue when you arrive on campus and begin meeting with your advisor.
