Solo Whitewater Canoe (OC1) Workshop (Tandem paddlers welcome) – September 5 – 7, 2008This weekend workshop will focus on OC1 whitewater maneuvers. Participants will camp together during the workshop. Beginning Surfing – September 13, 2008This day course is open to any PSU student who is interested in learning how to surf. The course is targeted toward participants who have limited to no surfing experience; however, experienced surfers are welcome to join.Location: Jenness Beach; Hampton, NH Mandatory Pre-trip Meeting: Wednesday; Sept. 10, 2008 @ 5:30PM in HUB Tower Room Cost: $10 Transportation: students provide transportation (carpool) Maximum Enrollment: 8 Surfboarding / Intro to Ocean Sea Kayaking – September 19-21, 2008This trip includes 2 days of Ocean Sea Kayaking and Surfboarding and 2 nights of camping in the Hampton, NH area. This course is open to any PSU student who wants to learn the basics of Ocean Sea Kayaking and Surfboarding.Location: Jenness Beach; Hampton, NH Mandatory Pre-trip Meeting: Wednesday; September 17th, 2008 @ 5:30PM HUB Tower Rm Cost: $35 Transportation: students provide transportation (carpool) Maximum Enrolment: 8 Surfing Weekend on Cape Cod– September 26-28, 2008This weekend trip is open to any PSU student who is interested in learning how to surf. The trip includes 2 days of surfing in the Cod National Seashore and 2 nights tent camping at Nickerson State Park. The course is targeted toward participants who have limited to no surfing experience; however, experienced surfers are welcome.Location: Cod National Seashore; Wellfleet, MA & Cape Cod; Brewster, MA Mandatory Pre-trip Meeting: Wednesday; Sept. 24, 2008 @ 5:30PM in HUB 123 Cost: $20 Transportation: students provide transportation (carpool) Maximum Enrollment: 8 Homecoming/Family Celebration –October 3, 2008Participate in Homecoming/Family Celebration fun by participating in PSU’s challenge course. Initiatives, games, and high/low rope activities only add to the laughs and memories of this community focused weekend. Come by yourself, with friends, or bring the whole family. Activities are geared toward all ages and abilities. This program is free to all PSU alumni, students, and their families. In case of inclement weather, the program will be canceled.Time: Saturday (1:00-4:30PM) Location: PSU Challenge Course located beyond PSU’s football field Cost: FREE Maximum Enrollment: Unlimited Paddle/Camp/Fishing Weekend –September 26 - 28, 2008This weekend trip is open to any PSU student who is interested in learning how to paddle, fish, and/or camp. Hike Katahdin – October 10 - 13, 2008This is a 3 night/4day trip to the beautiful unseen northern backcountry of Maine. This trip is targeted for experienced hikers only who wish to seek a unique and historical prospective of northern Maine. We will be climbing Mt. Katahdin, which is well known throughout the country as the end of the Application Trail and has a reputation to be challenging. This is open to all students who have hiking experience. Personal camping/hiking equipment will be needed.Location: Rumney Rocks, NH Mandatory Pre-trip Meeting: Wednesday; October 8th, 2008 @ 6pm in the HUB’s Tower Room Cost: $20 Transportation: students provide transportation (carpool) Maximum Enrollment: 10 Beginning Rock Climbing – October 25, 2008Beginning Rock Climbing is open to any PSU students who are interested in learning the basics of rock climbing.
