Q: How can I avoid the freshmen 15?
A: It is not an absolute definite that you will gain the freshmen 15 after arriving to school. For most students this is the first time living on your own and having to make your own decisions from how to spend your money to the foods that you consume. One way to make a smooth transition to the campus setting without packing on the pounds, is to implement healthy lifestyle choices now. Making good choices, eating a varied diet while practicing moderation, and incorporating exercise into your daily route will greatly decrease the chances of gaining any freshmen weight.
Q: Are there vegetarian options?
A: Vegetarian options are offered everyday in the dining hall. Sodexho has implemented a vegetarian station in the serving area to meet the demands of the student body. This station has a variety of made –to-order” options as well as prepared salads and soups.
Q: Is the food good?
A: That is for you to judge, but most students enjoy the foods served at the dining hall. There is a vast arrangement of food offerings which makes it is easy to find something to your liking.
Q: Are there healthy options available?
A: There are many healthy options offered in the dining hall on a daily basis. It is up to you to make good choices for yourself. There is an expansive salad bar, vegetarian station and fruit bar. Low fat dairy, lean protein, whole grain pastas and breads are always available. There are healthy meal exchange options available at our retail operations and at “On-the-Go” as well.
Q: Does it cost anything to meet with the dietitian?
A: There is no cost associated with visiting Sodexo’s on staff registered dietitian. She is available for nutrition consultations or to give you a tour of the healthy meal options in the dining hall. Feel free to call or e-mail her to set up an appointment. Phone: 535-3186; arszymas@gmail.com
Q: What if I have a food allergy or food intolerance?
Please make an appointment with our registered dietitian to help us better understand your dietary requirements. Our dietitian as well as the foodservice staff here at Sodexo will work with you to cater to your special needs.
