Although my primary area of teaching and study at PSU is creative writing (poetry, in particular), I have taught Women in Contemporary American Culture, Women and Their Environments, and a special topics course on Women in Popular Culture. I have been a member of the WSC for five years, ever since I joined the faculty here. I hadn't really thought much about women's studies as a discipline until I was working on my Ph.D. at the University of Nebraska , where they have a great program. I took graduate courses like 20th Century Lesbian Literature and The Rhetoric of Women Writers, and taught Women in Popular Culture several semesters there. I am also an advisor to AWARE, our campus women's group, a member of the Women of Words, a local women's writing group, and a member of the PSU Task Force Against Homophobia.
