When we speak of putting learners at the centers of our classrooms and enabling them to be active participants (rather than passive recipients) in their education, we owe a debt to Women's Studies. - Dr. Liz Ahl, from her 2005 Kalikow Award acceptance speech.

Dr. Marcia Schmidt Blaine

Marcia Schmidt Blaine (Social Sciences-- Associate Professor of History) has been teaching at PSU since 1988. As an adjunct, she started the first women's history course at Plymouth State in 1994, a course she now shares with Professor Rebecca Noel. Teaching that course led her to concentrate her research on issues of power, government, and authority as they involved women in colonial American history.
