Our Philosophy

The Plymouth State University Writing Center is staffed by a diverse group of students and professionals from various disciplines. We are friendly, attentive and supportive readers and listeners.

We strive to help all writers at any stage of the writing process, whether brainstorming ideas, creating outlines, sharing a draft or partial draft, responding to professors’ comments, checking mechanics and grammar, or citing sources. We work with writers and readers of all levels.

In addition to one-to-one, individualized consultations, we can offer you many resources from both our small library and our files of model papers from the various departments. For those planning to teach, we can also help you prepare for the PRAXIS test. If you are an international student, we can help you understand cultural references in your readings that may seem obscure.

“Reading is to the mind what exercise is to the body.”
— Joseph Addison
