Join S.A.G.E in Celebrating Women's History Month with the series:

Women Taking the Lead to Save Our Planet

Women Taking teh Lead to Save Our PlanetMarch 1: C.D Wright Smith Recital Hall, 3 p.m.
A compelling and idiosyncratic poet, C.D Wright has twelve collections including Rising, Falling, Hovering (2008), a weaving of deeply personal and politically ferocious poems. A part of the the Eagle Pond Authors Series.

March 3: Susan B. Anthony - The Invincible! Boyd 144 7 p.m.
Susan B. Anthony - The Invincible! will come to life circulating petitions, getting arrested, and challenging legislators when she appears at PSU. Performed by Sally Matson. Sponsored by the S.A.G.E Center and the Women's Studies Council.

March 4: Taking Root: The Vision of Wangari Maathai Boyd 144 7 p.m.
Taking Root: The Vision of Wangari Maathai is a film by Lisa Merton and Alan Dater which tells the inspiring story of the Green Belt Movement in Kenya and its unstoppable founder, Wangari Maathai. In 2004, Maathai became the first African Women to win the Nobel Peace Prize. Sponsored by the President's Commission on Diversity, The Lamson Library and Learning Commons, The S.A.G.E Center, Women's Studies Council. and Student Activities

March 5: Women in American History: Telling the Whole Story Fireplace Lounge, HUB, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Women in American History: Telling the Whole Story is a poster display of key events, interesting trends, and intriguing individuals in American women's history, from before European colonization until recent times. This exhibit is prepared by students in HI 3350 American Women's History

March 12: Women of Words Smith Recital Hall 7 p.m.
Women of Words, a local writing group, will read poems inspired by the artwork of local women artists.

March 23: Immigration and the Infamous Border Fence Smith Recital Hall 7 p.m.
Guadalupe Luna, an interim associate dean and professor at Northern Illinois University College of Law, says that contrary to constitutional dictates of equal treatment and due process, immigration law is further engendering harsh and arbitrary sentiments about immigrants whether in the U.S. lawfully or in an undocumented status. This event is part of the Spring 2009 Sidore Lecture Series.

March 30: Theo Kalikow and POWA Awards Celebration Bradford Room 4:30 p.m.
Join PSU community members in recognizing a PSU employee and a student who have demonstrated genuine concern for the advancement of women through their continuous involvement an advocacy of women. The guest speaker is Senator Maggie Wood Hassan. Sponsored by the President's Commission on the Status of Women.
