First-Year Mentoring Volunteer Program
Partner with Plymouth State’s Admissions Team in welcoming the next generation of Panthers!
Can you remember opening that college acceptance letter in the mail, all the excitement, followed by all those questions? Plymouth State is looking to engage alumni in welcoming and connecting with newly accepted students and their parents. Share your Plymouth State story. Be a resource for both parents and students looking forward to the next chapter. A quality experience in higher education is crucial for personal growth and professional achievement. Help the next class see further up here.
Plymouth State staff stand ready to help make the connections and guide meaningful experiences for all involved. Volunteers will receive all the materials, guidance, and training needed to have successful interactions and a rewarding experience.
Visits to area high schools.
Plymouth State University staff and alumni are hosting events at selected high schools in the Merrimack Valley of New Hampshire during the week of April 29, and in Quincy and Plymouth County in Massachusetts during the week of May 6. Newly admitted students and their parents will meet and greet Plymouth Staters for an informal question and answer session. Alumni will share their Plymouth experience, deliver information provided by Admissions Counselors, and build rapport with admitted students and their families.
Alumni who attend a session as an event at a high school continue serving as a resource for admitted students by corresponding with students and families over the summer. Volunteers reach out via email, text, or phone to provide timely helpful updates and answer any questions that may arise. Volunteers are guided on messaging and fully supported by PSU Staff.
If you were not able to attend an event at a high school, you are still welcome to sign up for this part of the First-Year Mentoring program. PSU staff walk all First-Year Mentors through a short training to bring you up to speed.
