PSU Students and Faculty Complete Biomedical Research Projects   Many college science labs are dark and empty in the summertime, but that’s not the case at Plymouth State University’s Boyd Science Center, where faculty and students have wrapped up a summer session of sophisticated biomedical research on subjects like biological rhythms, cholera virulence and cardiac disease. PSU Associate Professor Dr. Kerry Yurewicz said the institution received grant funding for the work from the IDeA Network of Biomedical Research Excellence (INBRE) program. The goal is to provide students with learning opportunities.  Click on the following link to read more & view pictures 15 08 INBRE Research Summer-Chabot post 0922 & 1508 INBRE Pics

EDEN (Eco-Devo-Evo Network)  This past July, MS Biology student Christopher Gonzalez participated in a EDEN (Eco-Devo-Evo Network) sponsored research exchange with Dave Angelini at Colby College in Waterville, ME. Click on the following link to read more 15 07 EDEN-Gonzalez and 15 07 EDEN-Gonzalez

Abby Beringer, 2015 Graduate  My location is in Hampton, NH. Technically, my current position at 603 Brewery is a cellar-man (I prefer cellar-girl) and quality control lab technician. I keg, can, and bottle beer, clean kegs and fermentation tanks, count yeast cells to determine how much needs to be pitched, and on the weekends I work the front end serving beer flights. Soon after I started working at 603 I learned that my heart was in the lab and in quality control/assurance. So, right now the owners and I are working on implementing a quality program and putting together an appropriate lab so I can test our products daily and eventually propagate our own yeast!   Also, I’m in a distance learning course in Intensive Brewing Science and Engineering through the American Brewers Guild. In November, I will graduate and I have a month long internship at Harpoon Brewery in Boston, MA.  Eventually, I want to be director of quality control and then one day I’d like to open a brewery!
