Business Honors Program

When you join the Honors Program in our College of Business Administration, you participate in a sequence of specially designated required courses for highly motivated students. Each course is enhanced with supplemental research, readings and classroom activities to provoke your intellectual curiosity and help you gain a heightened understanding of the subject matter.

Who Can Participate in the Honors Program?

The Honors Program is open to all students who have demonstrated excellence in their academic endeavors*. You are encouraged to apply. Participation in any class section is limited to available space, with preference given to students with the earliest date of entry into the Honors Program. Continuing students must maintain a grade point average of 3.25 in the Honors Program and their degree program, and 3.20 cumulative GPA at Plymouth State. To have the notation of “Business Honors Program Graduate” noted on your transcripts, you must be in good standing in the program at the time of graduation and have completed at least ten honors courses, three of which are third or fourth year courses.

About Honors Courses

Honors sections are enhanced to challenge highly motivated students by incorporating supplemental research, readings and classroom activities. The goal of each class is to provoke intellectual curiosity and thus develop a heightened understanding of the subject matter. The Program is open to all students who have demonstrated excellence in their academic endeavors. Student transcripts will indicate each completed honors course. Continuing students must maintain a grade point average of 3.20. To have the notation of “Business Honors Program Graduate” placed on their transcripts, students must be in good standing in the Program at the time of graduation and have completed at least 10 Business Honors courses.

Participation in any Honors section is limited to available space, with preference given to students with the earliest date of entry into the Program. Faculty may, at their discretion, admit a student who is not currently a member of the Honors Program, provided that all Program participants desiring the class have been accommodated. Class size will usually be smaller than typical sections of the course so as to allow time for sufficient interaction, writing and written examinations forms.

* The College of Business Administration Business Honors Program is no longer accepting new participants effective Fall 2016. Business Honors courses will be available to students that are currently enrolled and participating prior to Spring 2016.
