About Matthew (Matt) Toms
Matthew’s career as an outdoor educator began about 25 years ago working as a Sea Kayak Guide off the coast of Northern Maine. He has since worked in experiential/outdoor education throughout Maine, Utah, Chile, Peru, the Dominican Republic, and New Hampshire. His true outdoor passions are whitewater kayaking, backcountry skiing, and mountain biking though he simply loves sharing the outdoors, and all its wonders, with students. Matthew has been working at the White Mountain School as the Director of The Student Assistance Program, and running the whitewater kayaking and backcountry ski program for the past 15 years, is the Founder and President of The Batey Foundation, and is a Teaching Lecturer at the University of New Hampshire and Plymouth State University. He is really excited to be teaching the Whitewater Kayaking course at PSU, a course he has taught for the past 10 years.
