About Professor Chong

Professor Peng-Khuan Chong grew up in Malaysia and is a graduate of the Royal Military College there. With a background in economics and political science and interests in the political development of Southeast Asia he visits the region and West Africa every year. In 2011 and 2012 he helped in the establishment of PSU student and faculty exchanges with Universiti Tenku Abdul Rahman (UTAR) in Kampar, Malaysia and Sunway University in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. He is a Board Governor and visiting Professor at Houdegbe North American University in Benin, West Africa. He enjoys poetry and literature about the UNESCO world heritage city of Penang. He loves to hike and ski in the White Mountains and  maintains that his best education is from them and  his daughters who are graduates from Cornell and Yale. He was Chair of the Social Science Department from 2004 to 2012.
