About Professor Parton

Professor Parton is currently employed by the Dartmouth Trauma Interventions Research Center. This role combines her background of both mental health practice and child protection work. She is the project coordinator for the New Hampshire Adoption Preparation and Preservation project and works closely with the NH Division for Children, Youth and Families (DCYF). She provides training and consultation to DCYF and mental health providers across the state. Professor Parton previously worked in community mental health providing family and child therapy. She is trained in Child Parent Psychotherapy, Dialectical Behavior Therapy and Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy. Professor Parton’s early career was working for child protection. She is co-chair of the Children’s Issues Committee for NH-NASW and newly President-elect. She is also part of the CEU Committee and Ethics Committee.

Professor Parton is a teaching lecturer at Plymouth State University for the BSW program and is and adjunct professor for the University of New Hampshire online MSW program and their Durham BSW program. Professor Parton’s passion is working with children and their families, and she has been involved in statewide efforts to increase awareness and prevention of Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs).
