About Steven (Steve) Golden

Steve Golden has been the Outdoor Education Teacher at Spaulding Youth Center for 12 years, and is a co-founder of the modern Echo Program. Since 1999 he has been fortunate to work with many regional adventure programs, such as the New Hampton School Outdoor Education program, and the ACUDO program for at risk youth in Plymouth, NH. He has served on two separate risk management committees at the New Hampton School and Plymouth State University’s Adventure Education program. Steve is a current Teaching Lecturer in Adventure Education at Plymouth State University, where he has instructed for 16 years. He has worked for 10 years as a mountain climbing guide for Eastern Mountain Sports and Mooney Mountain Guides, while co-currently ski patrolling for Waterville Valley, and as a contact facilitator for Thompson Island Outward-Bound. Since Steve began his tenure at Spaulding Youth Center he has earned a M.Ed. in Adventure Education and is currently completing his Certificate of Advanced Graduate Studies in Educational Leadership K-12 Principal Certification. Steve is recently shifted into the new position of General Education Coordinator at Spaulding Youth Center. One of his duties will be to oversee and collaborate with Jason Sterner, Outdoor Education Coordinator to foster the EChO program to the next exciting phase of development.
