Vanesa Urango has been teaching Severe and Hazardous Weather at Plymouth State University since 2017. She is a graduate of the PSU Meteorology Program and earned her bachelor’s and master’s degrees in 2013 and 2016, respectively. Vanesa works full-time for the NH Division of Homeland Security and Emergency Management as the Assistant Chief of Recovery where she manages the FEMA Public Assistance and Individual Assistance Programs to provide disaster recovery assistance to communities in the State of New Hampshire. She is also a member of the American Meteorological Society (AMS) where she serves on the Committee on Emergency Management, and is a member of the FEMA Region I Hurricane Liaison Team (HLT). In her spare time, she enjoys hiking, music, and spending time with friends and family.
